ASO based SHE Method on Hybrid Multilevel Inverter for PV Application under Dynamic Operating Conditions

In multilevel inverters (MLI), output voltage waveform consists of dominant low order harmonics, which needs to be minimized. Simultaneously, good control over the fundamental for desirable operation is needed. this paper, an atom search optimization (ASO) based selective harmonic elimination (SHE) method proposed a variable dc bus reduced component count (RCC) MLI. ASO population-based metaheuristic algorithm, mathematically models motion atoms in nature accurately determine optimum firing angle switches by solving SHE fitness function. The outperforms recent metaheuristics methods such as bee imperialistic colonial algorithm (ICA), firefly, particle swarm (PSO), and teaching learning-based (TLBO) problem 11-level inverter. Detailed simulation case studies are presented effectively demonstrate performance on stand-alone photovoltaic (PV) RCC MLI subjected sudden changes irradiance, load dc-link capacitor voltage. experimental results PV inverter validate excellent minimizing total distortion (THD) harmonics under change operating conditions.
